EHI COMMUNITY LAUNCHES 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF GALIZA CELEBRATION AT EHI HORME

Ehi, a community in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, today officially launched the 10th Anniversary of its Galiza Celebration at Ehi Horme in a colourful and culturally rich ceremony.
The event brought together chiefs, queen mothers, elders, youth groups, opinion leaders, and invited guests from various communities to mark the beginning of the anniversary celebrations.
Traditional rulers, beautifully adorned in Ghanaian kente and traditional regalia, performed customary rites and prayers for peace, unity, prosperity, and development in the community. Cultural performances by children and youth groups thrilled the audience and showcased the rich cultural heritage of the people of Ehi.
Addressing the gathering, Torgbui Dzeble Adukpo IV, Divisional Head and Dufia of Ehi, expressed his gratitude and joy over the successful launch of Galiza 2026, which also marks the festival’s 10th anniversary. He commended the Central Planning Committee (CPC) and the Ehi Development Committee (EDC) for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the success of the launch.
Torgbui Dzeble Adukpo IV further appealed to the people of Ehi to uphold good morals and live responsibly. He advised the youth to stay away from all forms of social vices and misconduct, stressing that anyone found engaging in criminal activities would face the full force of the law.
He also appealed to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to collaborate with the traditional authorities to facilitate the reopening and expansion of the Ehi Police Station. In addition, he appealed to the government to ensure the resumption of the long-stalled construction of the Ehi roads.
According to the traditional ruler, the launch of Galiza is not merely a celebration but a significant milestone, marking ten years of a vision aimed at uniting the people, preserving their rich cultural heritage, and promoting the development of the community.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu North, Rev. Prince Amenaki, expressed excitement over the rapid development taking place in Ehi and its surrounding communities.
He highly commended the organisers for what he described as an exceptional and well-coordinated launch. According to him, this year’s Galiza launch was unique and worthy of emulation, encouraging other communities to learn from the Ehi Central Planning Committee on how to organise such remarkable events. Despite his busy schedule, the MCE said he was delighted to witness the occasion.
Responding to the concerns raised by Torgbui Dzeble Adukpo IV regarding the stalled Ehi roads project, the MCE explained that the delay resulted from the contractor not being paid on time. He stated that although payment had since been made by the current administration, the contractor was demanding interest due to the delayed payment. He assured the gathering that government was carefully reviewing the matter and that work would resume as soon as possible. He added that if necessary, the project could be re-awarded to another contractor.
The MCE also addressed concerns about the newly constructed six-unit classroom block for the Ehi M.A. Basic School, which is yet to be occupied. He explained that the contractor has not handed over the keys because outstanding payments are yet to be settled. He assured the community that his office, in collaboration with the Office of the President, would work to resolve the issue.
Furthermore, Rev. Prince Amenaki pledged to work closely with the traditional authorities to renovate, expand, and reopen the Ehi Police Station. He also announced plans for the construction of a modern kindergarten block for Ehi M.A. Basic School, indicating that a sod-cutting ceremony is expected to take place before the end of the year.
He concluded by urging the chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents of Ehi to preserve the unity that exists among them and continue working together for the progress of the community.
Speaking at the ceremony, several community leaders called on citizens of Ehi, both at home and abroad, to continue supporting the town’s growth and development. They emphasised that preserving the culture, traditions, and unity of the people remains essential to the future of the community.
